ASUS PC 1005HA – Good so far!, August 27, 2009 By Talcott “JimmyT” (Chicago)
Received my ASUS EeePC 1005HA – PU1X-BU yesterday. No problems so far. I was influenced by the majority of the reviews being VERY complimentary. Have big plans for this little powerhouse. For now, haven’t tried all the USB ports, video port or the WiFi features. But everything else is fine including power brick and battery.
I am as pleased with the real thing as I was impressed with the reviews. Screen image, clarity, brightness and color sat. is stunning for something under $400.
Awaiting delivery on external DVD-USB (Wow, there are a lot of models to choose from!) and the 2G memory module (got the 800mhz after some confusion and research).
Anyone… I have an ACER large screen monitor with high res., does the Intel graphic chip support external monitor resolutions higher than those for the LCD??
And for the record, at least HP support (ASUS, ACER etc.??)are not aware of screen image 90-degree increment rotation (Ctrl+Alt+Arrow keys). Would seem to be an Intel chip function. Friends with an HP Netbook that some kid pounded keys on found the screen image upside down. BestBuy and HP treated it as a “malfunctioning” unit. I was at first amazed and perplexed since I never had an Intel graphic chip, mainly Nvidia’s. Live and learn. I was regarded as a miracle worker when I reached over, hit Ctl+Alt+UpArrow and Presto!! If you ARE NOT aware… Ctl+Alt keys plus arrow key do this: up arrow=normal, down arrow=180, right=90 and left=270 (Might have reversed some).
