Asus Eee 1005 and Windows 7 !!!, August 23, 2009 By Danny K (Middletown, New Jersey)
This is my third Asus Eee. I started with the 7″ models and moved to the 8.9″ and now this 10.1 inch model. I have the $299 version from Best Buy, it has a 3 cell battery with 3hrs of battery operation. I wish I had waited and purchased the 6 cell version that Amazon is selling. A 6 cell battery costs over $79 dollars. Moving forward, This is a fantastic laptop. I downloaded a easy partition maker and installed Windows 7 RC version 32bit and now I can run either XP or Windows 7. Windows 7 is running with 1GB without any problems. Just as fast as XP, if not faster, better graphics, comes with Microsoft player 12, plays mov,mp4 and more! Throw away your quicktime player! It even plays 1280×720 mov files in HD. Try that with your existing Asus Eee laptop. BTW, I install windows 7 on my wifes noisy Asus 3000 laptop and the fan noise went away!! I guess windows 7 takes less effort to run. I love it and can’t wait for the full license windows7 on October 22nd. Please note windows 7 will install all drivers except the ACPI driver but if you ask windows 7 to find it, it goes to ASUS website and downloads it !! Very cool!
